The Boxborough Fire Department is happy to announce a free Child Car Seat Check Up event on Saturday May 19th from 10 AM to 2 PM at the Boxborough Fire Department, 502 Massachusetts Avenue in Boxborough. The Child Passenger Safety Program is designed to help educate parents on the proper installation of car or booster seats in their cars.  The program also focuses on ensuring that each child is utilizing a seat that is free of defects, recalls, and is appropriate for the height and weight of the child. No pre-registration is required.  Individuals interested in this program but unable to attend on this date can sign up for an alternative inspection date on the Fire Department website.  Residents of surrounding communities are also welcome. Our Mission

The Boxborough Fire Department's mission is to prevent and minimize the loss of life and property from fire; provide Emergency Medical Services; mitigate the consequences that natural and manmade disasters would have on life, property and the environment; provide fire prevention services and public education programs through non-emergency support activities.

 

Operations

 

The Boxborough Fire Department protects the Town of Boxborough, MA operating out of one station providing fire and emergency medical services to 5,241 residents in a 10 square mile radius.  In addition, the Department covers seven (7) miles of Route 495 North and South between Exit 27 and Exit 29.  The Department provides coverage 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in a mixed staffing structure.  The Department employs One (1) Full Time Chief, One (1) Call Deputy Chief, Two (2) Full Time Lieutenants, Two (2) Call Lieutenants, Two (2) Full Time Firefighters, Twenty (20) Per Diem Firefighter/EMT's, and Four (4) Call Firefighter. 


The station is manned by four (4) Firefighter/EMTs (with at least one (1) being a Lieutenant), plus the Chief, between the hours of 7 am and 5 pm Monday through Friday, and Two (2) Firefighter/EMTs each night and on weekend days.  The department owns Three (3) Class A Pumpers, One (1) BLS Ambulance, One (1) Tender, One (1) Hose Wagon, Two (2) Brush Trucks, One (1) Sport Utility Command Vehicle, One (1) Hazardous Materials Trailer, and One (1) Decontamination Trailer.
